How to Edit a PDF Using Adobe Acrobat

Editing a PDF can be straightforward and smooth when you have the proper tools. Whether you need to add images, update text, or make annotations, this guide will demonstrate an easy 7-step solution using Adobe Acrobat. Follow these simple steps to satisfy your PDF editing needs.

Step 1: Open Adobe Acrobat

  1. Launch Adobe Acrobat: Open Adobe Acrobat on your computer Adobe Acrobat Sign-In 
  2. Open Your PDF: Choose the PDF you want to edit. You can also upload a file that you would like to edit under the “Upload files” tab. 

Step 2: Enter Edit Mode

  1. Select Edit PDF Tool: On the top left-hand side of your screen, click the “Edit” button to enable editing.

Step 3: Edit Text 

  1. Click on Text: Click on the text you want to edit. A text box will appear around it.

  1. Make Edits: Start typing to update the text as needed.

Step 4: Edit Images

  1. Add Images: Scroll to the “Add Content” banner on the left-hand side to either add text or images.

Step 5: Add Annotations

  1. Select the Annotation you wish to complete: On the left side of your screen, there will be a menu of different annotation types.

  1. Choose Annotation type: Select the desired annotation, such as “Add comments,” “Highlight text,” “Draw freehand,” “Fill in form fields,” or “Add your signature or initials.” 

  1. Place Annotations: Click on the document where you want the annotation and enter your comments.

Step 6: Customize Document (More options) 

  1. Organize pages: Under the “Other Options” tab in the bottom left-hand side of your screen, you can organize pages as you see fit. These include “Delete, rotate, extract, insert, or reorder pages” 

  1. Combine files: This option allows you to merge multiple files into a single PDF

  1. Crop pages: Directly under the Combine files option is the “Crop pages” button this allows a user to “Trim page content, adjust margins or resize pages” 

  1. Number pages: The very last option will allow a user to number the pages on the respective PDF document. 

Step 7: Save and Share: After completing your edits, click on the three dots on the right-hand side of the top pane. From this menu, you can download or save a copy to share with others.
